STR Regulations for Van Wert, Ohio

Executive Summary: Are Short-Term Rentals Allowed in Van Wert, OH?

Yes, short-term rentals are explicitly allowed in Van Wert, Ohio, though they appear to require conditional use approval in certain zoning districts. Evidence from Pleasant Township (within Van Wert County) shows a public hearing was held to consider a conditional use request for operating a short-term rental property (specifically noted as "Air BNB") at 12200 Dustman Rd., Van Wert, OH 45891. This demonstrates that the local zoning framework permits STR operations through the conditional use process.

Van Wert County operates under Ohio's state-level STR framework, which allows residential properties to be rented for fewer than 30 consecutive days without requiring a specialized state license. However, as evidenced by the Pleasant Township case, local zoning approval is necessary.
