Vega Baja is a coastal municipality on the northern shore of Puerto Rico, the Caribbean commonwealth that functions as a U.S. territory. With a population of roughly 55,000 residents, it sits along the Atlantic coast about 30 miles west of San Juan, reached in approximately 35 to 45 minutes via PR-22. Closer to home, the Río Cibuco winds through the municipality and provides a quieter, nature-oriented counterpoint to the beaches. Its banks and the surrounding lowland vegetation give visitors a chance to enjoy a low-key afternoon outdoors without straying far from their rental.
