Elyria is a city in Lorain County in northeastern Ohio, with an approximate population of around 53,000 residents. The lakefront becomes a particular draw in summer, when sunsets and beach days complement Elyria's quieter pace.

Further afield, the world-famous Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky is roughly an hour's drive west, making Elyria a practical alternative to staying in pricier resort towns for thrill-seekers. Closer to home, Cleveland's cultural institutions, including its Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and major league sports venues, are easily reached for a day trip.
