Southold, NY

Southold is a town on the North Fork of Long Island in Suffolk County, New York, with a population of roughly 22,000 spread across several small hamlets and villages. Founded in 1640, it is one of the oldest English settlements in the country and has a quiet, maritime character defined by working farms, vineyards, fishing fleets, and clapboard houses. The town is best known as the heart of Long Island's wine country and as a gateway to Shelter Island, reached by a short ferry from the nearby village of Greenport. Southold sits at the eastern end of Long Island, about 90 miles east of New York City.
