STRs are allowed but require multi‑agency approvals (zoning verification/Special Use, fire marshal, and NCDHHS lodging license) plus occupancy tax registration. Zoning rules are parcel‑specific and may add owner‑occupancy, parking or signage conditions. Fees and inspections are moderate with no explicit caps, making compliance manageable but not trivial.
