The park surrounds a striking quartzite monadnock that rises sharply above the surrounding countryside and offers miles of hiking trails, trout fishing in the cascades below, rock climbing routes, and a historic homestead. Further west, the Blue Ridge Parkway is within easy reach, providing some of the most celebrated scenic drives and overlooks in the eastern United States.
