Liberty, KY

Liberty is a small, unhurried city in central Kentucky, serving as the seat of Casey County. With a population of roughly 2,000 residents, it carries the feel of a traditional Bluegrass small town — quiet streets, a historic courthouse square, and easy access to the rolling farmland and wooded hollows that surround it. A bit farther afield, travelers based in Liberty can reach the broader Southern Kentucky recreation region with relative ease. Lake Cumberland, one of the largest lakes in the eastern United States, lies roughly an hour to the south and adds another major option for boating and houseboating trips. Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, home to the famous moonbow, is also reachable on a longer day trip to the southeast.
