Generally Investor friendly
Short-term rentals are explicitly allowed in Hailey and governed mainly through tax collection (4% local option tax plus 8% state taxes) and a straightforward City Clerk tax permit; combined state sales/travel tax adds cost but not heavy complexity. The Idaho Supreme Court invalidated prohibitions of non‑owner‑occupied STRs in residential zones, limiting overly restrictive zoning, while the city still imposes basic permitting, occupancy/safety standards, and a local‑contact requirement. Overall, STRs are permitted citywide with moderate compliance steps, making the environment investor‑friendly.
