Rosemary Beach is a small, carefully planned coastal community in Walton County, Florida, set along the Gulf of Mexico on the state's Panhandle. With a year-round population of approximately 600, it is best known for its New Urbanist town design, sugar-white quartz sand beaches, and its place along Scenic Highway 30A, a corridor celebrated for a string of similar walkable, architecturally distinctive beach communities. Panama City Beach, the nearest major city, lies roughly 15 miles to the east along the coast.
About five miles to the west along 30A sits Seaside, Florida, the original planned community that helped define the character of the entire corridor. Its central town square, pastel cottages, and amphitheater draw visitors year-round, and Seaside and its surroundings are widely associated with the 1998 film "The Truman Show," which used the area as a primary filming location.
Just inland and a short drive west of Rosemary Beach, Grayton Beach State Park is one of the most acclaimed stretches of shoreline on the Florida Panhandle. The park is known for its towering white sand dunes, rare coastal dune lakes, and pine flatwoods, offering both beach access and inland hiking and biking trails that attract a steady stream of returning visitors.
Further west, Topsail Hill Preserve State Park extends the protected coastline with about 1,600 acres of dunes, scrub habitat, and additional coastal dune lakes. Its broad, often uncrowded beach and miles of paved and unpaved trails make it a popular complement to the busier 30A communities.

Visitors can spend the day on uncrowded white-sand shores, walk or bike to neighboring communities for dining and shopping, take short drives to multiple state parks and coastal dune lakes, or head east to Panama City Beach for more conventional resort amenities — all from a base that feels intentional, walkable, and distinctly unlike the high-rise strips that define much of the rest of the Florida Panhandle.
