Hobe Sound is a small, laid-back coastal community in Martin County, Florida, set along the state's southeastern Atlantic coast. Just south of Hobe Sound, Blowing Rocks Preserve on Jupiter Island is a striking 73-acre sanctuary owned by The Nature Conservancy. The preserve is home to the largest outcropping of Anastasia limestone on the U.S. Atlantic coast, where waves sometimes explode through eroded rock and shoot spray 50 feet into the air. A short boardwalk winds through coastal dunes and tropical hammocks, offering a quieter counterpoint to the busier beaches in neighboring Palm Beach County.
