East Lyme is a coastal town in New London County, Connecticut, with a population of approximately 19,000 residents. It sits along the western shore of the Niantic River where the river meets Long Island Sound, and it serves as a quiet coastal community that doubles as a gateway to southeastern Connecticut's shoreline. The town is roughly 50 miles southeast of Hartford and about 110 miles northeast of New York City, putting it within an easy weekend drive of both the New York and Hartford metro areas.
